Beliefs/Ministries:
|
|
We pattern our worship, evangelism and teaching after the First Century Church described in the Holy Bible which was written according to the inspiration of the only one and true Almighty God. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and only through him does humankind receive forgiveness of sins and salvation.
Worship
We:
1. Commemorate Christ’s birth, death and resurrection by partaking of the Lord’s Supper (Communion)
upon every first day of the week. The breaking of bread symbolizes Christ’s broken body on the cross
and the drinking of the fruit of the vine represents Christ’s blood shed on the cross for the redemption
of our sins. “Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread,”
Acts 20:7
2. “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.” 2 Timothy 4:2
3. “Pray together always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints”; Ephesians 6:18, as Jesus said, “My house is a house
of prayer”. Matthew 21:13
4. “Speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your
heart to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:19. We sing acapella (voices only) and only together as a
congregation.
5. “Give as one purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver”.
2 Corinthians 9:7 Collection is taken during the Sunday worship hour.
Baptism
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”. Matthew 28:19
We believe that at the age of accountability, one decides to be baptized through complete immersion in water for the “remission of sins” and “to walk in newness of life”.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things
that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to
the end of the age.” Matt. 28: 19-20

Our Mission:
To seek and save the lost by reaching outside of our local
community to the surrounding area and abroad. Our missions
aspire to guide others to hear the Word, to believe that Jesus
Christ is the Son of God, to repent of one’s sins, to confess
that Jesus Christ is one’s personal Lord and Savior and to be
baptized through immersion for the remission of sins.
We support works in:
Russia
India
Africa
Brazil
Latin America
Individual Mission Trips both in the U.S. and abroad
Our work in Kirov, Russia is especially significant in that we fully fund the work there, having started our support in 1992 through the efforts of ministers, Ed Boggess and Manly Luscombe. Maurice Batchelor and wife, Linnie, have made and coordinated numerous trips to support the work there. Our church building was completed in Kirov in 2002.
We also support frequent mission trips of Lyle Starnes to India and support the ministry of Randy Short and his wife who live in Recife, Brazil, ministering full-time to the Lord’s church there.

Our Mission:
To provide special opportunities and contacts for older adults of the congregation specific to the needs of this age group.
Periodically, special meals and fun outings are planned for our older adults. These outings include restaurant trips, meals and fun nights out at the fellowship hall with games and bingo. Bluegrass music is often an added attraction!
Widows and Widowers
Often older adults find themselves alone after the death of a spouse, as family may live a great distance away. Deacons have the responsibility to check on these individuals regularly and determine if the church can meet a particular need.
